Pride of a Woman

Pride of a Woman is (AWE) e.V.’s programme for women and girls whose lives have been shaped by poverty, conflict and gender-based injustice. It focuses on mothers, young women, school drop-outs, those pushed into early marriage or survival sex, young mothers and women who have experienced abuse. The goal is to help them become self-reliant, restore their dignity and open new perspectives for their lives and families.

Through local partners, Pride of a Woman offers vocational and livelihood training – for example in baking, tailoring or agro-pastoral activities – alongside basic business skills. Selected participants receive small start-up support so they can launch or expand their own income-generating activities. The programme also nurtures women’s groups and community networks, so women can support each other and have a stronger collective voice. As their income grows, participants are better able to provide for their children, contribute to community life and act as role models for other women and girls.
