Safe Learning Spaces for Displaced Children
This project establishes safe, child-friendly learning spaces for children who have been displaced by conflict. Working in partnership with local organisations, (AWE) e.V. creates environments where children can access education, play, and psychosocial support.
The learning spaces are designed to be inclusive and accessible, with attention to the needs of girls, children with disabilities, and those who may have experienced trauma. Local teachers and facilitators receive training on child protection and supportive teaching methods.
Caregivers are also engaged through regular meetings and information sessions so that the project strengthens both children’s learning and the wider community’s sense of safety and connection.
Key outcomes
- Establishment of multiple safe learning spaces within host communities.
- Increased school attendance and participation among displaced children.
- Improved caregiver engagement in children's education and wellbeing.
- Enhanced child protection practices among local staff and volunteers.
