Programme overview

Unsere Programme for women, children, and youth.

(AWE) e.V. works through five interconnected programmes that respond to real needs identified by women, children, and communities. Each programme has its own focus, but they all share a commitment to protection, dignity, and opportunity.

This page gives a snapshot of each programme. From here, you can click through to more detailed descriptions, project stories, and ways to get involved.

Programme snapshots

Five strands of work, one shared commitment.

Each programme has its own entry points — for example, children's activities, economic empowerment, youth participation, or advocacy. Together, they reinforce one another and build safer futures.

Children & protection

  • Learning support and homework clubs.
  • Play, creativity, and psychosocial care.
  • Work with caregivers and families.
Women's wellbeing

  • Group spaces for listening and mutual support.
  • Referrals to specialised services where needed.
  • Skills-building and practical help.

  • Jointly designed projects with local groups.
  • Support for grassroots leadership.
  • Practical responses to everyday needs.
Youth participation

  • Creative and digital initiatives.
  • Peer networks and youth groups.
Advocacy & voice

Advocacy · Storytelling · Solidarity

Advocacy and public engagement that centre African women's leadership, stories, and expertise in both Africa and the diaspora.

  • Campaigns and public events.
  • Storytelling and visibility work.
  • Building alliances and partnerships.
Connected work

How our programmes reinforce one another.

Rather than stand-alone projects, (AWE) e.V. programmes are designed to overlap. This allows support for women, children, and youth to be more consistent and responsive over time.

Cross-cutting priorities

  • Safety and protection for women, children, and youth.
  • Participation of people with lived experience in shaping programmes.
  • Attention to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
  • Strengthening community-led initiatives and leadership.
  • Building bridges between work in Africa and in the diaspora.

From programmes to projects

Each programme is made concrete through specific projects. Project pages give more detail on locations, partners, activities, and outcomes.

For example, a single project might bring together Sunshine Kids and Pride of a Woman, offering activities for children alongside spaces for mothers and caregivers.

Use this page as an entry point: you can navigate to programme-specific pages, browse related projects, or explore upcoming events connected to each strand of work.
